Topic-  Randy Wilkinson of Fallon & Wilkinson, LLC  https://www.fallonwilkinson.com  will be discussing Wood Identification.  To quote the Fallon & Wilkinson mission statement: Fallon & Wilkinson, LLC was founded in 2000 for the conservation of furniture and decorative arts. Our mission is providing institutions and private clients with the highest quality care and conservation of their cherished artifacts. Principal conservators, Tad D. Fallon and Randy S. Wilkinson were trained at the Smithsonian Institution’s prestigious Furniture Conservation Training Program and completed conservation fellowships at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Preservation Society of Newport County, and the Mystic Seaport Museum.    Using wood samples and slides, Randy will describe how wood identification is done professionally.  The presentation will be geared to woodworkers who have basic knowledge and familiarity with various wood species.  If members would like additional background in this field before the meeting, Randy recommends Bruce Hoadley’s book on identifying woods available from Amazon at: https://www.amazon.com/Identifying-Wood-Accurate-Results-Simple/dp/0942391047/ref=sr_1_11?crid=36ESAM3MZ867W&keywords=wood+identification&qid=1676998408&s=books&sprefix=wood+identification%2Cstripbooks%2C81&sr=1-11.  Randy weaves the technical information in with anecdotes from his long career in this area to make a truly interesting presentation.
