Neal Carey has been building and restoring musical instruments for 12+ years, and is a self-taught luthier. Along the path  he has learned about how instruments are constructed and repaired, from guitars to ukuleles, as well as mandolins, bouzoukis and even a harpsichord. It started with the desire to restore a balalaika and to do a little inlay. Examples of some completed instruments as well as several projects currently in progress will be shown as well as a demo of the shell inlay process.  Neal will give an overview of the tools and materials typically used in lutherie and a discussion of how one gets started.  A friend will demonstrate an ukulele or two.  Check out Neal's blog at: https://luthierconfessions.blog/
